Bob Kerrigan and George Estess formed the law firm of Kerrigan & Estess in Pensacola back in 1975. Three years later, the law firm expanded as Bill Rankin joined the firm in 1978. Later in 1984, Kerrigan Estess Rankin added their fourth law partner, Mike McLeod. Randy Thompson joined the firm in 1993 and became partner in 2002.

Kerrigan Estess Rankin McLeod & Thompson focuses on personal injury and wrongful death cases. Our concentration on these areas of law allows us to effectively assist clients during the most traumatic and difficult periods of their lives. Largest Civil Judgment

One of eight trial lawyers selected by the Governor of the State of Florida, founding partner Bob Kerrigan prosecuted the State’s claim for medicaid recovery against the tobacco industry. The case settled during jury selection for, what was at the time, the largest civil judgment in the history of the United States.

Mr. Kerrigan also assists human rights advocates who are currently being prosecuted by other countries. He has established an endowed human rights program at Florida State university with special emphasis on Central and South America. He is involved with Alien Tort Claims Act & Torture Victims Protection Act cases.

During the election controversy of 2000, Mr. Kerrigan was legal advisor to the minority caucus of the Florida Senate.

After Hurricane Ivan devastated the Pensacola area in September 2004, Mr. Kerrigan partnered with Rebuild Northwest Florida and established a website where people could go for a variety of practical and helpful information. He also revived Helping Hands Legal Aid Center and established a hotline for hurricane-related questions. The center worked closely with Legal Services of North Florida to resolve emergency housing and consumer needs.

In 2011, Mr. Kerrigan was the recipient of the 2011 Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award, the highest statewide pro bono award. The award was presented by Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles T. Canady at a January 27, 2011 ceremony at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee.
