Board Certification – Only 6% of eligible Florida Bar members, approximately 4600 lawyers, are Board Certified. A lawyer who is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and who meets the standards prescribed by the state’s Supreme Court may become Board Certified. Not all qualified lawyers are Board Certified, but those who are Board Certified have taken extra steps to have their competence and experience evaluated.
Board Certification recognizes an attorney’s special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of the law and professionalism and ethics in practice.
Board Certification requires lawyers to be evaluated for professionalism and tested for expertise. Board Certification is The Florida Bar’s highest level of evaluation of the competency and experience of an attorney in his/her particular area of the law.
At Kerrigan, Estess, Rankin, McLeod & Thompson all active lawyers are Board Certified and recognized by The Florida Bar as Civil Trial Experts.
