You can sue for negligence security and you have to prove that there was negligent security. The burden of proof in Florida lies with the injured party, the person seeking compensation. And so if I’m your lawyer in that case, then we look at the area where the apartment complex is located, whether it’s in a high crime area, the type of security that the apartment complex has, whether they have security officers, whether they’re aware of other criminal activity going on in that area and what they’ve done to protect against it. But yes, you can, but you’ve got to jump through a lot of steps and have a lot of proof.
