The driver of the truck that hit me had no insurance. What are my options?

No Insurance

The driver of the truck is still responsible to you for your injuries, even though that driver doesn’t have insurance, and it’s somewhat of a problem for the truck driver as well as you. He’s still responsible for your injuries. But for you, it may be hard to recover from somebody who doesn’t have insurance.

So, we’d also look to the owner of the truck if that’s a different person. The owner of the truck may have insurance, and that person is equally responsible for your injuries.

If the truck driver is working or on the job at the time of the accident, his employer could be responsible to you as a result of your injuries from the accident.

Finally, we’d look to your own insurance to see if you have uninsured motorist (UM) coverage. That’s coverage you can buy under your own policy in the event that you’re injured by a truck driver who’s not insured.
