What is Medical Malpractice?

What is medical malpractice? In many ways it’s similar to an automobile accident. If the driver of a car is careless and causes an accident and injures someone the drive is responsible for those injuries. If a doctor or employees of a hospital violate the rules of medicine they’re responsible for the injuries they cause. These rules of medicine make up the standard of care that doctors and hospitals are required to follow.

Medical malpractice cases are expensive to bring and can be very difficult. We’re required to retain qualified medical experts to assist the jury in understanding why what was done violated this standard of care.

At Kerrigan Estess Rankin McLeod & Thompson we accept meritorious medical malpractice cases where substantial injuries or a death has been caused by a doctor or a hospital failing to abide by the rules of medicine.
