What is the purpose of obtaining uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage?

People like to say they have “full coverage” car insurance. When we buy car insurance in Florida (and in some other states) you really have a many options. One of the things that you can select is Uninsured Motorist coverage. That’s coverage you buy on your own policy. It will pay you for your injury and damages. If  the person who causes your accident is uninsured.

We think it’s very important coverage to have. It protects you and your family, occupants of your vehicle in the event that the other driver doesn’t have insurance or doesn’t have good insurance. It’s also underinsured insurance and that is, many drivers in Florida have low limits and if you have a substantial injury and a substantial claim that’s caused by a driver with low limits, you’re not going to make a recovery against that person. But if you buy, under your own policy, uninsured motorist coverage, which is also underinsured motorist coverage, you’re protecting yourself against that event.
